

Patrícia Anacleto
IPMA, I.P. and MARE-FCUL
Patrícia Anacleto is the Principal Investigator of the MycoFish Project. She is an Assistant Researcher at the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA, I.P.) and Integrated Researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Marine and Environmental Sciences Center - MARE, Marine Laboratory of Guia, FCUL). She concluded a PhD degree in Marine Biology and Aquaculture in 2014 at FCUL.
Her major scientific areas of expertise are marine biology, ecology, physiology, microbiology, ecotoxicology, climate change, contaminants, bioenergetics and seafood quality and safety.
António Marques
IPMA, I.P. and CIIMAR
António Marques is the Co-Principal Investigator of the MycoFish Project. He is senior researcher at IPMA, I.P. and is member of CIIMAR. AM graduated at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) in 1999 and completed the PhD in Applied Biological Sciences at Ghent University (Belgium) in 2005. His main scientific areas of expertise are seafood quality, safety (chemical and microbiology), physiology, toxicology, consumer risk assessment, upgrading of seafood products, consumer perceptions and seafood preservation.
He has coordinated several European funded projects, such as Horizon Europe INNOECOFOOD (5 million euros), H2020 SEAFOODtomorrow (7 million euros), ECsafeSEAFOOD (5.09 million euros) and FP6 RISKFOODCONT (210k euros).


Sara Cunha
LAQV-REQUIMTE
Sara Cunha has a PhD in Food Nutrition and Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto and she is Senior Researcher Scientist at the LAQV-REQUIMTE. She has vast experience in the development of new methods based in chromatographic techniques as GC-MS, GC-MS/MS or LC-MS/MS for the authentication of high value food products (olive oils, juice and wines) and for the screening of natural contaminants (mycotoxins such as patulin, tricothecenes, ochratoxin A), agriculture contaminants (pesticide residues), industrial processing contaminants (acrylamide, biogenic amines and 4-methyimidazole), migrant contaminants (bisphenol A, phthalate), environmental contaminants (UV-filters, triclosan, pharmaceuticals, musks and brominate flame retardants) and contaminants from packing materials (bisphenol A and its analogues) in food, water and biological fluids.
Miguel Faria
LAQV-REQUIMTE
Miguel Faria is a tenured researcher at LAQV-REQUIMTE, University of Porto (UP). He owns a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and received his PhD in Nutrition and Food Chemistry in 2005 at UP. He held postdoctoral positions at the department of Food and Water Science (UP, 2006-12) and at Research Center for Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO, 2012-13). He has over 25 years of teaching experience in organic and food chemistry. He has expertise in: (i) human cell-based assays for testing the effects of food bioactive/toxic compounds as well as their bioaccessibility and absorption; (ii) chemical analysis of food nutrients and contaminants (LC/GC-MS) and (iii) molecular biology methods to evaluate food authenticity (SSR/SNP) using fast qPCR HRMA. H-index 21, published 73 indexed papers, 5 book chapters, totalizing >1200 citations, and over 90 communications. Supervised/co-supervised 9 MSc and 5 PhD thesis. Participates in several international (FP7, H2020) and national research projects, and international networks.


José Fernandes
LAQV-REQUIMTE
José Fernandes is graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences and has a PhD in Nutrition and Food Chemistry by FFUP. He teaches in the area of water and food chemistry at FFUP and FCNAUP.
He was Vice Dean of the FFUP in 2010-2015. Currently he is Head of the Lab. Food Science and Hydrology (from 2010), and Member of the Scientific Council (from 2016).
Its researcher activity is dedicated to the development of chromatographic methods for food contaminants monitoring. He has been involved in 24 National and European research projects with external financing, He is/was supervisor or co-supervisor of 5 PhD Students, 10 Master students, and 1 post-doc student. He has authored 7 chapters of scientific books, and 82 scientific papers with an H-Index of 32.
Ana Luísa Maulvault
IPMA, I.P. and UCIBIO, Associate Laboratory i4HB
Ana Luísa Maulvault has a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability Studies (Faculty of Sciences and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon, FCT-UNL). She is an Assistant Researcher at IPMA I.P. and Integrated Researcher at UCIBIO. She is an expert in the assessment of climate change effects in marine ecosystems and multi-stressors interactions. Her main research interests include: marine organisms' welfare, physiological and ecotoxicology responses, seafood safety and development of adaptation strategies towards building climate change resilience.


Flávia Mello
MARE-FCUL, IPMA and LAQV-REQUIMTE
Flávia Mello is biologist with a PhD and Master in Ecology by UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and currently she is post-doctoral in the MycoFish project at MARE-FCUL. Flávia is also an integrated member at IPMA and LAQV-REQUIMTE. She has expertise in analytical chemistry since 2006, particularly in food and environmental contamination, chromatography, seabirds, trophic ecology, Antarctica, ecotoxicology, bioaccessibility and animal experimentation.
Cheila Pereira
Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto and LAQV-REQUIMTE
Cheila Pereira is graduated in Biology and holds a master’s degree in Biology and Quality Control by School of Life and Environmental Sciences of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP). She is currently a PhD student in Pharmaceutical sciences at FFUP. Her PhD plan focuses on the effects of mycotoxins in the aquaculture sector, studying the mycotoxins’ occurrence, the in vitro bioavailability in fish and humans and the mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of these contaminants.


Helena Ramos
LAQV-REQUIMTE
Helena Ramos is currently a researcher in the MycoFish project at LAQV-REQUIMTE. She obtained her MSc degree in Quality Control from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (Food and Water Specialization), after a Specialization and Bachelor’s in Biochemistry (Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto). She has been carrying out research into neurotoxicity of common food contaminants through in vitro methods. Recently, she has been focused on human cell-based assays to study the effect of bioactive compounds, dietary contaminants, and whole meals on health, including intestinal inflammation and neurotoxicity.
Pedro Pousão-Ferreira
EPPO-IPMA and S2AQUAcoLAB
Pedro Pousão-Ferreira is a biologist and Assistant Researcher of the research career of IPMA, specialized in Marine Aquaculture. He is responsible for the Olhão Pilot Fish Farming Station (EPPO-IPMA) and has more than 35 years of experience in reproduction, larval development, nutrition, fattening and pilot production of sea bass, sea bream, sole, meagre, groupers, sardines and other 6 species of sparids (bream and snapper), in production in earthen tanks, intensive fiberglass tanks, cement and in open sea cages. He has participated in 99 national and international projects and has been responsible for 42. He is president of the board of S2AQUA - Laboratório Colaborativo, Associação para uma Aquacultura Sustentável e Inteligente.


Florbela Soares
EPPO-IPMA and S2AQUAcoLAB
Florbela Soares has a degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries and a PhD in Marine Sciences (specialty in Aquaculture) from the University of Algarve. She is currently a researcher at the Olhão Pilot Fish Farming Station (EPPO-IPMA). She has 30 years of experience in the aquaculture area, particularly in pathology, reproduction, larval cultivation and fattening of marine fish in different production systems.
